About Me
I was a gamer since young, so having a gaming alias was normal. The name Curing (KYOOR-ing) was my World of Warcraft healer paladin name at first, then eventually I started to post my art under the same alias, as I liked the meaning behind the word “cure”. My art began as a way to heal myself, and now, at a professional stage, I hope it can offer that to others as well.
My perspective has been shaped by a childhood spent between Sweden, South Korea, and the United States. Experiencing these deeply different cultures taught me contrasting ideas of beauty, emotional expression, and restraint—lessons that continue to shape the aesthetics and philosophy of my work. I also enjoy fantastical narratives, which offer a language to explore human emotion in unexpected ways.
Given my focus of interest, perhaps it was only natural that I majored in illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. I started to work in the video games industry during my school years and gained over a decade of experience as a game artist in various fields of assets. In recent years, with the rise of AI, my focus has been focused more on non-pixel and imperfect works, drawn to the irregularities, material resistance, and human traces that make each object singular and unique. Digital media remains a tool I approach intentionally, as I explore more of the traditional and hybrid workflow.
Across prints, functional sculptures, and digital pieces, my work explores delight, sadness, and loneliness—not as problems to be solved, but as shared experiences to be recognized and seen. I create works meant to be lived with, returned to, and reflected upon—objects that invite pause, intimacy, and quiet companionship.
Now *Curing* is an ongoing practice and a way of living for me as an artist.
